Every time the Olympics come around, I remember my dreams, hopes and ambitions. As I approach 50, my perspective is changing. What I feel is important is shifting. What matters most to me is not the same as it was when I was in my twenties.
My relationship to time and money has changed as well. How I spend my time is sacred. How I spend my money is less impulsive. I’m not too sure if it’s age, wisdom or a little bit of both.
I’m seeing the humor in most of life’s little dramas and situations. I can see that nothing new ever really happens in the world it just happens to different people making it seems new. It can say that because everything that I thought was “special” when it happened, had already happened to my parents and their parents. Now I can see the same things happening to my step-kids and clients.
What I can say is this, with age comes a perspective and an understanding of what I choose as important. I can see that in truly connecting with other people, I am enriched. I can see now that the outer physical differences that I admired are simply the packaging for rich spiritual beings all here to learn to give and receive love. I can see that it’s only through our self-love and self-acceptance that we can love and accept another.
Enjoy your life and be your best…
Cheers,
Terry
P.S. Hell I must be getting older – I can even see the humor in SPAM – HA.
